Happy New Year!

Aside from the few extra pounds we picked up over the holiday break, we’re good as new and ready to start the new year. And we hope you are, too.

Every newsletter we’ve received this month has focused on goal-setting and tracking. So we’re NOT going to talk about that. You’re smart, you know what needs to be done.

However, since it’s always our goal to bring you good, solid information, let’s dive right in!

State of the union.

Okay, check this out. StateMaster.

This is not your father’s statistics site. This is great! They have compiled data from sources such as the US Census Bureau, the FBI, and the National Center for Educational Statistics and you can find fascinating information by state.

Always wondered about the top home run hitters by birthplace? You can find the career home run totals (most recent) by state. (Alabama has 755!)

Thought about motor vehicle theft (per capita) by state? Look out D.C. – there are more than 50% more thefts than the highest state (Nevada).

And yes, there are stats here that will help you with your job too.

Intermezzo.

Is there anything you’d like to tell yourself in 10 years? Think Doc Brown from Back to the Future. That note sure helped him out.

Just send email from Future Me.

Warn yourself or remind yourself. Or just tell yourself, “I told you so!” Fun stuff.

Ratios.

We are always in search of business statistics. And, we love passing on the fa-ree stuff!

Here’s a great one. Biz Stats. Boring name, cool info.

Find financial ratios by industry. Sales, too. And it’s broken down by type of company and more. Sure there are gaps. (You get what you pay for, right?) But this is a great site for your industry knowledge gathering.

Movers and Shakers.

Wonder how the big sites are doing? Follow the web 2.0 trends here at Movers 20.

See monthly, weekly, even daily changes on sites such as Wikipedia, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We’re thinking this might just help you defend your marketing strategies.

And it’s chocked full of graphs and data. So, we think it’s fun. (Don’t say it, we know.)

Stump the Researcher.

A loyal reader asks: Does anyone go to the library anymore?Oh reader! As huge library fans, we hope so. Click below for our response.

And submit your own question – send an email!
Click here for the answer. It’ll just take a minute.

Have we already mentioned how excited we are for the New Year? We look forward to bringing you the latest and greatest sites to help you do your job, organize your life or even just give you a chuckle.

And remember, if there is a topic we haven’t touched on, please let us know and we’ll do our best to include it in an upcoming issue.

See you in two weeks!
