We’re no gardeners, but we’ve always heard that Mothers’ Day weekend is the time to plant annuals. (Those are the ones you replant every year, right?) So, we think it’s time to start cultivating some new statistical research sites… Sorry. We couldn’t help ourselves. Hungry? We’re huge fans of del.icio.us, the online social bookmarking application. People mark sites and tag them with keywords and you can see your own sites and those other people tag. You can even subscribe to someone else’s sites. Here at Scherer Cybrarian World Headquarters, we have a plug in for Firefox that makes it even easier to use. (Ask us about our other plug-ins. We love to share!) One super benefit of del.icio.us is that you always have your saved sites from any computer. Even better is that the booksmarks and tags are searchable. And now, there’s an even better reason to get to know del.icio.us. Ann Smarty wrote How to Analyze your Site with Del.icio.us which was recently published in Search Engine Journal. This is a must-read for all you marketing types. You can see how to get an idea what people liked most from your (or your clients’) content, to see how people describe your content (remember reading Positioning?), to do some keyword analysis, and even (dare we say) to see all those things about your competitors. The horror. Read the article. We bet you’ll be inspired. Intermezzo
That’s the key.Keyword remix is a really awesome keyword analysis and research tool. You can use it to find out search trends, number of results on search engines, and more. There are lots of reasons why having this data can be useful – for advertising keywords, strategy, optimization or, if you’re like us, just because you are curious! This is especially nice because you can easily see current and historical keywords. We know it sounds dry…but trust us and check it out! And speaking of data…Have you seen Trendrr yet? OMG. What a joy to people like us. (We won’t be so rude as to imply that you are as geeky as us, but you know who you are!) With Trendrr you can track, compare and share data. And you can identify trends across social graphs and networks, realize the potential of p2p (that’s peer to peer if you don’t know), track engagement metrics, look at what is really happening, real time. Stump the ResearcherA reader asks: I saw a painting that I really like and the gallery owner told me that the artist had an Absolut ad. Not that I doubt the salesperson (grin) but how can I check? The artist is Ivan Jenson. Can you help? We can absolutely help! Read on for the answer. Thanks for stopping in.We appreciate it. Send us your Stump the Researcher questions. And be nice to all the mothers in your world. |
