Seems summer is ending in a hurry around here. Busy is good, right?

We’re still clinging on to the hope that some of you are still in vacation mode. Are you? We’ll be back on schedule with some meaty stuff for you in a few weeks.

Hot off the press

The SEC unveiled the successor to the agency’s 20+ year old EDGAR database. The new system will give investors much faster and easier access to key financial information about public companies and mutual funds. The new system is called IDEA, short for Interactive Data Electronic Applications. IDEA will act as supplement and then totally replace the EDGAR system.

Yay! Our tax dollars at work in such a useful way.

Search and Ye Shall Find

Pew Internet American Life Project released its latest survey on search engine usage last week. You know we love this stuff! People are searching more. A lot more. And the survey breaks it down demographically and talks about what users do in a typical day. We promise you’ll find something in this report that you’ve been dying to know. Check it out.

Patents

Recently, Free Patents Online was brought to our attention. So, we went to check it out. It’s pretty neat and provides free patent searching, free PDF downloading, allows annotating documents and sharing them, and free alerts for new documents.

That’s it for now. Back the week of September 8. See you on the flip side of Labor Day! Happy barbecues to all.
